Co Ahead sets high aims for saving fuel

Aiming for a 13% fuel saving by 2012 sounds incredibly ambitious, but it is what Co-Ahead London is doing in a scheme that already shows savings of 7%. All its buses have been fitted with a device called the FM Communicator. It has five LEDs,which light up whenever a driver exceeds a pre-programmed parameter. Alongside each LED is a corresponding letter, R = over-rewing, I = excessive idling, B = harsh braking, A = harsh acceleration and S = over-speeding.
