Economy measures by two Welsh councils could see a short-term revival of step-entrance bus operation on some routes. Torfaen Council saved £13,000 on its contract for evening services between Pontypool and Trevethin by specifying a smaller, high-floor vehicle and withdrawing the final service of the day, which ran almost empty. Veolia previously provided the service using a low-floor bus. A council spokeswoman says loadings did not justify use of a large bus with low-floor access.
