Arriva formally launched its third Sapphire route, 280 (Aylesbury-Oxford), on 19 July. The 11 previously allocated 58-plate Alexander Dennis Enviro400s, given a refurbishment upgrade costing just under £400,000, re-entered service the following day to continue providing up to a 20min headway, seven days a week on the route. While the first two Sapphire conversions have 2+1 seating upstairs, these double-deckers - refurbished by Bus & Coach World at Blackburn - retain their original 81-passenger capacity. Esteban Civic V2 seats have more padding and new seatbacks and headrests have been recovered in E-Leather. Equipped with free WiFi from new, 240v and USB power points have been installed as well as Hanover LED destination equipment front side and rear, and audio and visual passenger information.
