Twenty-three coaches have already been entered into next year's UK Coach Rally, the first to be staged on Blackpool seafront. That is just 10 short of the total turnout at this year's event at Alton Towers and is nearly halfway to a target of 50, with the possibility of accommodating up to 60 in all. The 23 include operators from more distant parts of the UK, including Banstead Coaches from Surrey, Blakes from Devon and Mayne's of Buckie in north-east Scotland. The move to Blackpool on 23/24 April - with the option to return in 2017 - will take the event back to the seaside after seven years. First staged at Clacton in 1955, it was held in Brighton for all but four of the years between 1956 and 2009, after which it moved to Peterborough for three years and then to Alton Towers for the next three. Blackpool was home to the National Coach Rally organised by a Wigan area operators' association until around 1990.
