Watchdog sets out four-point plan to end bus 'blind spot'

The National Audit Office, the UK's independent public spending watchdog, has made four recommendations for the Department for Transport's future funding and strategic direction of local bus services in England outside London, including an overhaul of Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) and funding of concessionary travel. In a report assessing the DfT's current performance, it urges it to set out a clear, consistent vision of the future of bus travel, working with other parts of government and using good quality data and measures of success to articulate clearly 'what success would look like' for bus travel in urban and non-urban areas.
