This year's UK Coach Rally in Blackpool, planned for 18/19 April, was one of many casualties of the coronavirus lockdown. The organisers hope that the delayed 66th rally can now be staged at a spring 2021 date yet to be announced. In the absence of a 2020 event to illustrate, here are some of the highlights from 1984 when there were still two annual coach rallies for operators and manufacturers to show off their latest hardware and test their driving skills in front of a live audience. The UK Coach Rally then was called the British Coach Rally and was always a south of England event, held in Brighton most years since 1956. The Blackpool event, organised from Wigan, was the National Coach Rally. After leaving Brighton in 2010 for venues north of London, the UK Coach Rally finally settled on Blackpool as its home from 2016.
