Geothermal Japan

摘要

Japan is one of the world's most tectoni-cally active countries, with nearly 200 volcanoes and the blessing of tremendous geothermal energy resources. In 2003, 20 geothermal power plants were in operation at 18 locations nationwide (Fig. 1). Most are located in the country's Tohoku and Kyushu districts. Total net output from all geothermal power plants is 535.25 megawatts (MW), making Japan the sixth largest producer of geothermal electricity in the world.
