Indonesian Firms Combine

Asia Pulse reported on June 9 that in 2008 the Indonesian government plans to complete the merger between two, state-owned geothermal companies, PT Pertamina Geo Thermal and PT Geo Dipa Energi. The newly formed company will work on a crash program, costing about $11 billion, to generate power from energy sources, including geothermal and other renewables. The program will begin once another crash program to build coal-fired power plants is completed-before the end of 2010.
