US Department of Energy GeoPowering the West Initiative and Western Area Power Administration Continue to Address Geothermal Opportunities for Public Utilities

The American Public Power Association (APPA) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), in partnership with the Department of Energy's (DOE) Western Area Power Administration, have been actively bringing awareness to consumer-owned utilities on the applicability and logistics of implementing geothermal technologies into their power portfolios. The APPA-NRECA outreach team continues to plan events and activities through 2008 to help utilities wishing to expand their renewable-energy supplies gain a better understanding of the business- and technical-aspects of using renewable, geothermal resources.
