Three national geologies recently published by The Geological Society in London are listed in the current catalogue. The titles are: The Geology of Central Europe, Volume 1—Precambrian and Palaeozoic and Volume 2—Mesozoic and Cenozoic, edited by T. McCann; The Geology of Chile, edited by T. Moreno and W. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has published a reference card comparing electrical-generation technologies, like renewables, coal, natural gas, and nuclear. The study evaluates factors such as costs, land needs, water requirements, air emissions and waste products, and the ability of a power plant to generate electricity as needed. "The purpose of this effort is to provide all interested audiences with a beginning framework for understanding the impacts and reliability of power-generation operations," said Mike Howard, EPRI President and CEO.
