THE PRODUCTION UNIT OF THE NORWEGIAN COASTAL ADMINISTRATION

The Norwegian Coastal Administration has a long history of being both a legislative authority as well as a planning and construction governmental unit. In line with recent Norwegian governmental policy, the construction part of the Coastal Administration was secluded from the legislative part and from 2002 established as an independent "Production Unit" under the auspices of the Norwegian Coastal Administration. The Production Unit carries out all construction work related to marine activities. In particular, it has the experience to take on jobs requiring highly specialized staff and equipment such as: 1. Dredging of hard morainic sub-sea material utilizing dipper dredgers with high powered shovels 2. Drilling solid rock ― sub-sea material for blasting and dredging, utilizing jackup-type drilling platforms 3. Dredging and depositing of contaminated material in the upper layers of the sea bottom in seaways and harbour basins, utilizing specialized methods and equipment recently developed by the Production Unit.
