California Geothermal Update

The Department of Conservation, Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) oversees geothermal well drilling and operations on private and state lands throughout 20 of California's 58 counties, including low-temperature wells not used for the production of electricity (Figure 1). There are approximately 860 production and injection wells used for electrical production in the state, including resources regulated the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
