The SWOT analysis (SWOT stands for Strenght, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats) was conducted for two models genetically modified organisms (GMO) for winemaking: vine, resistant on Grape Leaf Fan Virus (GFLV) and yeast degrading polysaccharides, respectively. It found out that the vine, resistant on GFLV, is more perspective than polysaccharide degrading yeast. The needs and expectations of oenologists and retailers from biotechnology applications in vinegrowing and winemaking have been assessed by both qualitative and quantitative methods and some data are presented and evaluated. The main goal of methodological analysis is to find the explanation that would tackle both qualitative and quantitative issues at the same time and offer new insights into barriers for genetically modified organisms (GMO) implementation in wine technology. After analysing the barriers for efficiency of the system, we identified elements that enabled us to cluster barriers into groups and identify the influence of specific element on genetically modified organisms (GMO) implementation.
