The Vigie AtoN system architecture

Deployment of a monitoring system by installing AIS KANAtoN Type 3 transponders on aids to navigation, also enables the replacement of existing old tele-monitoring systems. They can be linked to communication interfaces which allow bidirectional exchange of addressed messages (Message 6) between the monitoring centres and the AIS transponder. The equipment and software allow tele-monitoring of navigation aids and at the same time deploy a network of sensors to measure meteorological and hydrological parameters if this is required. AIS for tele-monitoring and telemanagement allow considerable cost savings as compared with GSM solutions. No extra equipment is required apart from the AIS signalling transponders, and there are no standing connection charges with AIS. For distant sites, it is possible to interface with GSM communication or satellite systems.
