China is one of the world's major agricultural countries. About 80/100 of its annual water consumption is used for farming undertakings. On the other hand, China is a country deficient in water resources and in particular, the water shortage is embarrass- ingly serious in the north. So the current development of water-saving agriculture (WSA) is a way of easing the strain between the supply and demand of water.
