Power Requirement of a Shin Unloader with Screw Conveyors

Screw conveyors are continuous conveyors suitable for transporting small-sized to pulverous bulk goods, even out of ships. Due to their simple, closed construction (main parts are the screw, the trough and the drive), they have a low weight and price, need only little space and make a totally closed conveying possible. This last advantage is important, especially when handling materials which are harmful to the environment. The operation of screw conveyors is based on the screw-nut-principle, in which the conveyed material represents the nut whose speed of rotation is reduced by friction between the goods and the tube. Since the goods' speed of rotation is slower than the screw speed, the screw flights move the conveyed goods in an axial direction.
