Rail boost for Townsville port

The Queensland state government is to invest an additional A$50M in upgrading the rail freight line between the port of Townsville and the mineral-rich northwest province centred on the city of Mount Isa. The government said the latest funding is part of a A$500M investment in the mines-to-port supply chain and will improve flood reliance, replace and strengthen below-rail infrastructure and equip the railway for double-stacked container operations.
