Ore soar drives new mine interest

The sustained recovery in world iron ore prices is propelling renewed interest in mofhballed and reactivated mining projects in Australia. Jupiter Mines is assessing the restart of its two Central Yilgarn direct shipping iron ore projects in Western Australia (WA), at Mount Ida and Mount Mason, which were put into care and maintenance in 2012 and 2014, respectively. The company said China's increased appetite for higher-grade ore "provides an attractive opportunity to commence high-grade DSO hematite production and high-grade magnetite concentrate production that could underpin quality long-term supply".
