Amsterdam looks for gateway status

Some years ago, the Dutch government formulated a policy of promoting two "gateways" for Holland - the Port of Rotterdam and Schipol airport at Amsterdam. However, such is the pace of growth along the ARA range that the Port of Amsterdam now considers it also should be part of this policy. It argues that the concept of Holland Delta ports, including Amsterdam, would be better suited to cater for future growth.
