The 5 mtpa first phase Muuga Coal Terminal, handed over to AS Coalterminal by turnkey contractor ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik in 2005, handled 3.976 mt of coal and throughput has risen again this year, due partly to expansion of rail capacity. The coal terminal also marked the beginning of the extension of the whole of the eastern part of Muuga seaport. This is a mainstream of development for the Port of Tallinn (Tallinna Sadama AS) for the next few years (2007-11).
