Strengthening outlook for aluminium

RUSAL, the world's largest aluminium and alumina producer, reported its total aluminium output for 2009 dropped 11% to 3.9 mt compared to 2008 output figures. This lower volume was in part caused by the temporary suspension of its least cost-efficient smelters, the Novokuznetsk, Bogoslovsk and Urals Aluminium Smelters in Russia and the ZaporozhyeAluminium Smelter in Ukraine.
