Polish coal exports have been in decline for several years amid withdrawals of export subsidies and an increasing focus on domestic coal-fired power generation. Poland exported just4.71Mt in 2011 compared with over 18Mt in 2005. The country's hard coal exports have continued to decline, with shipments in the first half of the year falling 28% to 1.72Mt, according to the latest figures released by Weglokoks, the state-controlled coal exporter.
