Indonesia still mulling its taxing question

Indonesia's government recently announced that it was to impose a 20% duty on exports of 14 mineral ores, including copper and nickel, in a bid to encourage local processing and extract more value from its mining sector, which accounts for about 11 % of its gross domestic product. The tax will prohibit miners from exporting the minerals until they submit plans to build local processing facilities in a move to not only increase investment in the sector but also to generate more jobs.
