Evraz Nakhodka Trading Seaport (NMTP), part of Evraz steel and mining group, has started reconstruction of its coal berth and the upgrade of the handling facilities in a bid to double its coal exports via the Russian Pacific harbour. The upgrade will see NMTP equip the coal wharf with a wagon dumper, defrosters, stackers and belt conveyors. Upon the project's completion in December 2013, the new terminal will be capable of discharging 250 wagons a day and handling up to 5 mtpa of export coal. Last year, Evraz NMTP handled 2.37 mt of coal, up 27.8% on 2010, while Nakhodka's total coal handling volume reached 3.7 mt, up 32.7% on the previous year.
