While TIL and other grain transloaders load grain into containers horizontally there are advantages to loading containers vertically. These include faster loading, eliminating the need for bulkheads and liner bags to stop free flowing cargo spilling out the doors, and enabling the container can be filled right up to the doors (depending on the weight of the commodity). New Zealand-based A-Ward has developed a wide variety of container tilters for 20' and 40' containers. The company got its start in the scrap metal industry and has built up a product range with options for automatically opening and closing doors, monitoring weight during loading, taking pictures of loaded containers and providing safe access for sampling during loading. It is now expanding into food and agricultural product supply chains and recently installed a tipper at a coffee storage facility in Coumonsec in the south of France operated by Joulie Transport.
