The last few years have been challenging for South Africa and the future is full of uncertainty, but there are positive signs for the bulk sector including new investment in ports and railways. The overall optimism that accompanied the country's hosting of soccer's FIFA World Cup in 2012 and the hope of a burning economic legacy prevailing thereafter have all but dissipated.
