Nevsun Resources Limited has begun exporting copper concentrate from its Bisha Copper Mine expansion in Eritrea using the Rotainer container rotating system at the port of Massawa. Nevsun selected the Rotainer system when it decided to expand its Bisha facility to produce copper concentrate. The product is trucked from the processing site to Massawa in half-height intermodal shipping containers with removable lids. At port the containers are stacked and handled with reach stackers in the yard, and then discharged into vessels using the Rotainer system, which automatically lifts the lid and empties the container. Nevsun had earlier said the containers and Rotainer hardware cost around A$25M.
