Marcor on the Maasvlakte

Marcor Stevedoring, a Steinweg affiliate, is building an agribulks facility on the Hartel strip at Rotterdam's Maasvlakte I. Thus, it is scaling up considerably from its existing midstream transhipment operation in the Waalhaven. The company currently handles agribulk at a floating terminal, the retired bulk carrier marcor bulk moored at dolphins in Rotterdam Waalhaven, using lemniscate grab cranes. In contrast, the Maasvlakte terminal will include 280,000 m~3 of dedicated, newbuild bulk stores. This offers ideal accommodation for inbound bulk carriers, given its proximity to the sea, deep-water access and 17m depth alongside the quay. The facility will be located on the Hartel strip, a recently reclaimed site on the south bank of the Mississippi Dock basin where Steinweg handles steel products.
