Upgrade for UBT

South Africa-based Weba Chute Systems beat off competition from several major firms in the US to win a multi-million dollar tender for work on a terminal upgrade project at United Bulk Terminals (UBT) south of New Orleans on the Mississippi River. Due for completion this summer, the project follows Weba's original installation of a Transfer Chute System at UBT in 2002. The upgrade project focuses on environmental compliance and improved efficiency in handling multiple products, and involves seven Weba Transfer Chute Systems, designed and fabricated in South Africa. Mark Bailer, Weba's managing director, said that the original chute installed in 2002 is being modified with a new bottom section to allow it to integrate with another chute feeding directly in front of it.
