Prompt payments are essential for small time suppliers of services and goods as they normally may not have other financial resources to cater for delays. This is especially true as they need the payments not only to operate their businesses but also for their daily household needs which in most cases cannot be delayed ("Government unveils new industry payment charter", page 11, 11 April 2014). Thus the impact on these small time suppliers of services and goods is even more severe. It is important that management professionals give due consideration and promptly settle all dues payable to these smaller suppliers of services and goods who have performed their obligations satisfactorily and that there is no dispute.
