Two huge tower schemes planned for City of London

Two huge City of London tower schemes have been unveiled by developers British Land and Singapore's Aroland Holdings, including what would be London's tallest building. Eric Parry Architects has revealed designs for a skyscraper at 1 Undershaft for Aroland that at 309.6m tall would tip the capital's current record holder, the Shard, by 60cm. The 73-storey tower will be built next door to the Cheesegrater and eclipses Lipton Rogers' recently approved 22 Bishopsgate. It will replace the 28-storey 1969 Aviva Tower if planning, expected to be submitted in the new year, is approved. The proposed building will feature a large public square at the base of the tower under an elevated reception lobby and a free public viewing gallery, education centre and restaurant at the top.
