Architects can learn from other professions The article is interesting ("Letter: Architects are missing core skills", 6 March 2015, page 28). However, engineering is only one aspect and has relatively little to do with an architect's responsibilities when getting a building built. Broadly learning from other professions / consultants / artists / scientists may be where the profession can regain some lost ground and ways to inform practice and design. While the architect remains central to co-ordination of design during construction it is important to learn how trades tend to execute work and how design can benefit sequencing and H&S during construction and increase quality, longevity and maintenance of the final product.
