Some of the UK's largest contractors were locked in last-ditch talks with union Unite as Building went to press in an attempt to avert a full-blown High Court hearing on blacklisting, scheduled to start on Monday, writes Louise Dransfield. Unite, representing around 90 workers, was the "last man standing" of four blacklisting victims groups that are pursuing contractors for millions of pounds in compensation through the High Court, after the other three - Ucatt, GMB and the Blacklist Support Group - reached settlements out of court last Friday.
