Mace boss calls for clarity on how construction will access skills

The boss of Mace has once again called for more clarity from the government about how construction will have access to the skills it requires post-Brexit, writes Jordan Marshall. Boris Johnson has warned that a planned points-based system will not allow for the level of unskilled migration the industry has been using to backfill its labour force. In a Sunday Times interview carried out in the lead-up to last week's general election, Johnson said while unskilled workers would be eligible for short-term visas in sectors where there are employee shortages, such as construction, "there is no pathway to residency" for those people.
