The total gross value of construction works main contractors performed in the second quarter increased 14.5% in nominal terms over a year earlier to $55.2 billion, the Census & Statistics Department announced on September 11. After discounting the effect of price changes, the total gross value rose 9.7% in real terms. The gross value of construction works performed at private sector sites totalled $17.2 billion, up 37.8% in nominal terms and 30.1% in real terms. For public sector sites, the value increased 23.9% in nominal terms to $19.1 billion. In real terms, it increased 17.5%.
