Understand and exploit your individual leadership style. With the help of facilitators from Houston-based Baker Communications, U40s determined their individual leadership style: "Doer," "Talker," "Thinker," or "Guardian." To no one's surprise, Talkers and Doers dominated, with a healthy group of Thinkers, but only one Guardian. U40s were asked to design the ideal office, carte blanche. The results were remarkably similar in content-lots of daylight, workout spaces, technology galore. But the Doers (led by Smith-Group's Nish Kothari) came up with a detailed written list, the Thinkers (led by Cynthia Dubberly of Eskew+Dumez+Ripple) with an exquisite floor plan, and the Talkers (led by Perkins Eastman's David Koren and WinMore Marketing's Carolyn Ferguson) with a cartoon pastiche.
