Northants farmland destruction

South Northamptonshire District Council has approved plans by Persimmon Homes and Bloor Homes for 2,750 greenfield homes, three employment areas and other development south of Towcester. The Development Control Committee approved the proposals subject to legal agreements. The construction will destroy more than two square kilometres of land, including 167ha of farmland, 75.6ha of which is graded "best and most versatile" and, theoretically, protected by the National Planning Policy Framework.
