Computer control and monitoring of the 420B-1 500 kW HF transmitter

The principal design features of the computer portion of the 420B-1 high-frequency transmitter are discussed, both from a hardware and a software standpoint. The point is made that the primary task of the computer is to simplify operation of the transmitter. Although the computer is an integral part of the control circuit, the transmitter can operate without the computer.
