Conventional wisdom - and even NBC executives -predicted the company would take a bath on the 2012 Olympic Games. Instead, it turns out NBC cleaned up in many ways. With a bold strategy that built a hybrid broadcast-cable-digital play, the Olympics (which broke even, by the way) was the biggest television event in American history, a huge step forward for authentication and online viewing, and even helped NBC primetime get some wins under its belt in the fall.
