Fcc commissioner michael o'rielly last week suggested the commission give broadcasters some flexibility to provide on-air contest disclosures online as well as on-air. Makes sense to us. The FCC is nothing if not focused on broadband as an alternative to broadcasting. In this case, broadcasters would benefit from putting those mandatory FCC disclosures online. Those disclosures are supposed to include, though are not limited to, "how to enter or participate; eligibility restrictions; entry deadline dates; whether prizes can be won; when prizes can be won; the extent, nature and value of prizes; basis for valuation of prizes; time and means of selection of winners; and/or tie-breaking procedures." To fulfill the requirement and still have airtime/ space left for other things, broadcasters have resort- ed to fast talkers or tiny type.
