摘要

Thanks to growth in broadband penetration, audiophiles and advertisers alike are increasingly tuning in to online radio. In its recent report, Internet and Multimedia 2005, Arbitron/Edison Media Research estimates the U.S. monthly Internet radio audience totals about 37 million listeners, with the weekly average running at close to 20 million. Plus, as of January 2005, Arbitron/Edison reports, as many as 15% of Americans said they had tuned into online radio. And, U.S.-based AOL and Live365 both told BM they have gained listeners. "Our listenership has more than quadrupled since we began our radio push in 1999," said an AOL spokeswoman. "There's no doubt that the emergence of broadband has played a critical role in the way fans are experiencing radio online."
