Pentax has launched a new lightweight entry-level DSLR. The K-m fetures a 10.2 million pixel resolution 23.5×15.7mm sensor in a compact, lightweight body, made possible by the development of a new stainless-steel chassis, the downsizing of its shake reduction mechanism and circuit boards, and the repositioning of the battery compartment. The camera also features Pentax' dust removal system, which uses a coating to remove dust and stains from the sensor's surface, with the remaining dust shaken off when the system shifts the image sensor at high speed. Finally, the dust falls onto an adhesive sheet positioned at the bottom of the SR unit, eliminating any possibility of it returning t the image sensor surface.
