Since the launch of the X-Prol interchangeable-lens mirrorless APS-C camera and its first system lenses in 2010, Fujfilm's current X-Trans 16-megapixel sensor has acquired an unmatched reputation for control of noise and rendering of fine detail. This was enabled through the use of a new filter pattern, breaking up the regularity of Fujifilm's Bayer RGGB matrix with a more stochastic distribution of the red and blue sensels (responsible for most colour content) and a higher proportion of green, providing more luminance information and visual sharpness.
