More than 200 participants from 25 countries followed the motto - "PET made: state-of-the-art" - to the PETnology Forum 2003 in Munich, in order to gain and exchange information about the latest developments concerning PET materials. The conference was opened with a live interview. Dr. Michael Stoger, managing director of PETnology GmbH, spoke to Mike Urquhart, vice-president, PET Systems, Husky, Canada, about the PET bottle material's position in the world market and about Husky's latest development in the area of preform manufacturing. "The latest preform platforms will produce significant outputs related to capital employed," said Urquhart. "Furthermore, Husky will try to expand their market position by means of enhanced customer retention and excellent customer services." Following the interview, Dr. Thomas Rummler, BMU, specified the current version of the Packaging Regulation as well as its planned update. In the next presentation, Joachim Eckstein from InfraServ Hoechst explained the impact the updated version would have on market, industry and consumers.
