Water came streaming out of the dry dock as the giant doors slid open to reveal the newest yacht in Dutch superyacht builder Amels' growing fleet. The new arrival is the 204ft Amels 206. Like the Tim Heywood-designed Amels 199, the 206 features a scimitar bow, round portholes and gullwing doors to the forward tender garage. Heywood made several tweaks. "Aft of the wing station, the form of the boat shoots up to the deck above and then I changed the tumblehome from in to out - from positive to negative - and it makes such an interesting form," he said. A gleaming gray hull and white superstructure emphasize these interesting shapes. Sold in September 2019 to a client from the Asia Pacific region, the yacht will have plenty of opportunities to test its range when it is delivered - its naval architecture and power package should allow it to go for 5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots before refueling.
