Photogravures by Edward S. Curtis are the most regularly traded photographic prints in the photography art market today. This would seem to indicate that there is a lot of scholarship and connoisseurship available regarding his work, but in fact the opposite is true. Forgeries are regularly spotted for sale on the Internet, and collectors who thought that they owned a vintage Curtis come to discover that they have a posthumous re-strike.
