WHAT'S DEVELOPING

Josef Sudek(1896-1976) has come to be regarded as one of the Czech Republic's most renowned fine art photographers-his ethereal landscapes, modernist still lifes, and sweeping panoramas of the city of Prague made between the 191 Os and 1960s inspired and influenced subsequent generations of Czech and Eastern European photographers. This retropsective/survey show at the MIA features a broad selection of Sudek's oeu-vre made from the 1910s through the 1960s. It will be shown alongside photographs by such creative contemporaries and later artists as the modernists Frantisek Drtikol and Jaromir Funke, the Surrealist Eva Fuka, and the contemporary figure-photographer Jan Saudek.
