Beautiful Strangers: Neil Krug and Joni Harbeck-Alexander Redefine Romantic Nihilism

When I reach Neil Krug and wife/creative muse Joni Harbeck-Alexander at their Lawrence, Kansas home-studio this past April, it quickly becomes evident that the young couple have achieved dynamic equilibrium. Nazraeli Press recently published their first photo book, Pulp Art, a unique, if not unprecedented collaboration between photographer and supermodel. Their union, while not necessarily influenced by, nonetheless harks back to the working arrangement of 1960s icons David Bailey and Jean Shrimpton as much as Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison's latter-day performance theater constructs.
