Picture a young boy, maybe seven or eight years old, who is particu-larly interested in discovering the wondrous world in which he lives. One day he places his thumb and forefinger together, forming a small aperture, which he looks through. This especially delights him. He sees this tiny window as his own private view of the world, there for him to examine and study and explore.
