Beauty and adaptation - the marvels of Namibia's dryland habitat

Dawn cannot come soon enough for campers and wildlife alike in the Namib Desert of Namibia. Only 12 hours ago, the sun was just starting another day of scorching the landscape and all those who ventured under it. Temperatures routinely reach 35 ℃ under an azure blue sky that stretches from horizon to horizon. Only the setting of the sun would bring relief to those who find the sun too unbearable to tolerate. With our camp set up, our chairs arranged to watch the sun setting and the first flames of our campfire coming to life, we settled into our first night of camping here; one of many such experiences thanks to my living in Namibia for two years.
